About Muscat

Muscat is Oman's low-rise capital, tucked between the Al Hajar mountains and the Gulf of Oman — a whitewashed city of Portuguese forts, the Sultan Qaboos Grand Mosque, souks in Mutrah and calm beaches at Al Bustan and The Chedi. It's the most understated Gulf capital: no skyscrapers, deep hospitality tradition, and easy access to Nizwa, Jebel Akhdar and the Musandam fjords.

Resumen rápido

  • Low-rise Omani capital of Portuguese forts, souks and turquoise wadis — the calmest Gulf city.
  • October–April is peak; May–September very hot on the coast (Jebel Akhdar 10°C cooler).
  • Alcohol served in licensed hotel venues only; modest dress in public spaces.
  • One of the safest countries in the region — deep hospitality tradition.
  • Currency OMR (highest-value in the region); Type G 240V plugs; bottled water preferred.
